At the age of twenty, within a ten month period of time, Rene had two sons and a miscarriage. Both her boys were born prematurely with significant delays. Her oldest son was eventually diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. Rene spent the next several years providing extensive therapy for each of her children and in the shadows of her life she hid emotional scars from being molested as a small child.
